Cold, quiet, and dark. You know this place, but do
you? Your head feels light, but your hands feel heavy.
This isn’t new, but it feels new. You hear every sound
in the woods. A heartbeat. Comforting? Perhaps.
Your chest is filling with static. Now your shoulders.
Your arms. You feel it in your neck and ears. Keep going.
The shadows of the trees are constantly changing
as you move further and further. The water is calm
and glistening. You’re here, but at the same time
you’re somewhere else.
You go where the leaves on the ground take you,
wherever that may be. Yet, you aren’t moving at all.
Trapped.
Dawn is breaking, and you were never awake but
you were not sleeping.
Everything is new. You’re seeing everything new.
